AJ Styles has admitted that he wishes he had the opportunity to share the ring with TNA legend Abyss in WWE.

While AJ Styles is now best known as a former WWE Champion and a regular fixture on WWE programming, he first made his name in TNA – now IMPACT Wrestling.

Styles was part of the promotion from its launch in 2002 until 2014 and gained his reputation for being one of the best wrestlers in the world through a series of matches against the likes of Kurt Angle and Samoa Joe.

During this time, Styles also had rivalries with Abyss, also known as Joseph Park. Park has also made his way to WWE where he has been working backstage as a producer since January 2019.

In a recent interview with Metro.co.uk, The Phenomenal One has revealed that he wishes he could have shared the ring with his former rival in WWE. Although Abyss did appear as Styles’ statistician on an episode of SmackDown in 2020, he said that it would have been fun to have him in a match in a WWE ring.

“If it were up to me, I would’ve tagged with Abyss. Little things – Joseph A. Park, what a moment. I wish I could’ve had the opportunity to have him in a match here. It would’ve been great for him, and it would’ve been fun for me.”

During the conversation, AJ Styles also discussed how it was a blessing to work with The Undertaker, and revealed he would have also liked to have wrestled Triple H and Shawn Michaels.

“I never thought I’d get the opportunity to work with these guys. It’s a blessing for me to have gotten to work with Undertaker. I wanted to work Triple H. I wanted to work Shawn Michaels. I’m jealous of the guys that had the opportunity that I didn’t. But it wasn’t meant to be.”

AJ Styles is currently engaged in a rivalry with Edge and Damian Priest. After being defeated by the WWE Hall of Famer at WrestleMania 38, the pair will have a rematch at WrestleMania Backlash.
