AEW Star Confirms Removal From Collision Linked To CM Punk

CM Punk

CM Punk was involved in one AEW star moving away from Collision.

Although CM Punk won the World Championship twice while with AEW, his run with the company featured more controversy than most wrestlers face in a lifetime. He was involved in multiple altercations backstage with two of them being physical, clashed with Tony Khan, and went on a remarkable tirade in a press conference immediately after winning the World Title.

Following his departure, it was reported that CM Punk was responsible for QT Marshall being removed from Collision. The report noted that Punk “didn’t want Marshall to be a part of Collision and didn’t see QTV as a productive part of Powerhouse Hobbs’ presentation.”

While QT Marshall went on to leave AEW, he’s since returned to the fold in a backstage capacity.

During a new interview with Bill Apter for Sportskeeda, Marshall reflected on Punk’s time in AEW and referenced leaving Collision. The star explained that while Punk was involved in his disappearing from the show, the decision was more collaborative than previously reported.

“I always liked him backstage. I know there were reports that he kept me off of TV, and we actually talked about it. We agreed. Neither of us wanted me to be Will Hobbs’ manager. Then I also had to work Saturdays and Wednesdays. So when him and I spoke about the idea that he didn’t want me with Will Hobbs, I was like yeah, let’s sign me up for that one because I’d rather only work on Wednesdays,”

CM Punk Returning To WWE Raw

Following Punk’s explosive exit from AEW he headed back to WWE, but a torn triceps has stopped his comeback before it ever really got going. Despite this, and confirmation he won’t be able to wrestle for much of the year, CM Punk is due to appear on the Raw before WrestleMania 40.

Punk has only wrestled three times since returning to WWE in November.
