AEW Referee & Star’s Dad Confirmed For Match

AEW referees Tony Khan

One AEW referee has been signed up for one of the more bizarre trios matches in AEW history that will also see an AEW star’s dad make their competitive debut in the company as well.

At Double Or Nothing, Jeff Jarrett and Jay Lethal challenged FTR for the AEW Tag Team Championship, and as usual, when Jarrett’s group is concerned, things weren’t straightforward.

Lethal and Jarrett were accompanied to the ring by Sonjay Dutt, Satnam Singh, and Karen Jarrett for the bout which was officiated by Mark Briscoe. When Briscoe caught Sonjay Dutt up tho his meddlesome best he sent him to the back along with Singh but he was then inadvertently taken out by a Jeff Jarrett guitar shot before they left.

With FTR taking control of the match, Aubrey Edwards ran to ringside to replace Briscoe as match official but she was stopped by Dutt and then smashed over the head with a guitar by Karen Jarrett.

Backstage on the 2nd of June edition of Rampage, Jeff Jarrett’s crew were debating talk of fines and suspensions for Karen Jarrett’s actions when they were interrupted by Mark Briscoe. Briscoe told Jeff Jarrett that Tony Khan confirmed there would be no suspensions as that would mean they wouldn’t be there to compete. Referring to “we” Briscoe noted that he wanted a piece of Jeff Jarrett and had someone on hand who wanted some of Karen Jarrett – Aubrey Edwards.

Edwards and Karen Jarrett briefly stared down before the AEW referee grabbed her nemesis by the throat as the two tussled while referees and the rest of those on hand tried to separate the two women.

Now on Rampage taped to air on the 9th of June (spoilers courtesy of PWInsider), it was confirmed when Mark Briscoe confronted Jarrett’s crew in the ring that a trios match has been signed which will pit Jeff Jarrett, Karen Jarrett, and Jay Lethal against Mark Briscoe, Aubrey Edwards, and Papa Briscoe. This will, needless to say, be Papa Briscoe’s debut in an AEW ring as well.
