TJR Wrestling

A 2019 WWE King of the Ring tournament was announced on Raw tonight. The tournament will begin next week on Raw. It was not announced when the finals of the King of the Tournament will take place, but it could be Clash of Champions on September 15. That’s just a guess on my part.

What we did find out after Raw was some information about who will competing in the King of the Ring tournament. Matches have not been announced yet, but the 16 competitors have been named. Here is more info from WWE.com:

Sixteen Superstars from Raw and SmackDown LIVE begin their quest to become in-ring royalty as the illustrious King of the Ring tournament returns next Monday night, live on Raw.

The winner of this intensely competitive tourney will join the likes of Harley Race, Bret “Hit Man” Hart, “Stone Cold” Steve Austin, Booker T and Brock Lesnar as bearers of the King of the Ring crown.

The names are:

Raw

The Miz
Ricochet
Cedric Alexander
Samoa Joe
Drew McIntyre
Baron Corbin
Sami Zayn
Cesaro

SmackDown LIVE

Kevin Owens
Ali
Apollo Crews
Chad Gable
Elias
Andrade
Buddy Murphy
Shelton Benjamin

Who faces who? When are the matches taking place? We don’t know the answers to those questions yet, but the tournament begins next week on Raw. I assume it will take place over several weeks because if not, it will feel rushed.

Analysis: My pick to win is Drew McIntyre and my second favorite choice is Andrade Both guys are heels and I think WWE needs to elevate some heels in the near future, so they are my picks.
