Report: Los Angeles Is Front-Runner to Host WrestleMania 37 in 2021 at New NFL Stadium

This year’s WrestleMania took place two days ago and we already know next year’s WrestleMania 36 event will be in Tampa Bay. There are already stories about where WrestleMania 37 will be in 2021 with the city a new LA Times article covering the possibility of Los Angeles hosting the event.

It shouldn’t be a surprise to anybody that follows the NFL because the city of Los Angeles will debut a new stadium in 2020 that will be home to my favorite sports team, the Los Angeles Rams. The LA Chargers will also play their home games there. The new stadium will tentatively be called Los Angeles Stadium and Entertainment District at Hollywood Park (LASED), which is a ridiculously long name, but that’s what it is for now.

The LA Times article was written by Arash Markazi, who has covered WWE shows in LA for years. Most of the article is about how great of an experience WrestleMania is.

The new LA stadium is the front-runner to host WrestleMania 37, according to multiple sources. They want to host WrestleMania 37 in 2021 to serve as a test run before LA hosts Super Bowl LVI (56) in February 2022.

Here’s what Kathy Schloessman had to say about it. She’s the President of the Los Angeles Sports and Entertainment Commission:

“We know the power of the WWE brand. They have hosted several events here in the past such as Summer Slam, Survivor Series, Raw and SmackDown and we have seen the tremendous impact these events have in the community, both economically and socially. Given our focus on attracting major sporting and entertainment events to Los Angeles, WrestleMania is at the top of our list of events we want here.”

The last WrestleMania in Los Angeles was WrestleMania 21 at the Staples Center in Los Angeles in 2005. Starting in 2007, WWE has held WrestleMania at larger stadiums in order to get 70,000+ people in the crowd.

TJR Thoughts: I think it will probably happen because Los Angeles is the second biggest market in the US other than New York, they have really nice weather all year round and there’s a lot of media. Plus, a new stadium that will likely seat 80,000 people or more seems like a logical spot to host a WrestleMania.

As a diehard LA Rams fan, I’m very excited about the new stadium and I always thought this was possible. Another city to think about in the future is Las Vegas because they’ll have a new NFL stadium ready for 2020 as well. I can see WWE definitely wanting to do a WrestleMania in Vegas at some point in the next decade.

For now, take it as a rumor, but if I could bet on this happening, I definitely would.
