WWE Testing The Waters For Vince McMahon’s Return?
Vince McMahon’s name has been hinted at multiple times in recent weeks on WWE TV.
Amid all the backlash WWE’s creative team has been receiving from fans and critics of late, one person’s name has been mentioned in code a couple of times recently, and that’s former WWE CEO Vince McMahon.
Cody Rhodes brought McMahon up by alluding to him during his promo with Stephanie McMahon, and last week, CM Punk alluded to the former wrestling mogul when he was taking shots at Roman Reigns.
This, and predictions from former WWE names, have fueled a rumour that McMahon could actually still have some control over WWE creative and could show up at WrestleMania 42, although this is merely speculation and nothing more.
McMahon stepped down from WWE following the s*x trafficking lawsuit levelled at him by former employee Janel Grant, who alleges that McMahon coerced her into a s*xual relationship and trafficked her to other employees, asking her to cater to their demands.
Several NDAs (Non-disclosure agreements) came to light when Grant opened up about McMahon forcing her to sign them and paying $3 million in hush money in 2022 as part of said NDA to keep quiet about their s*xual relationship and her abuse allegations. It is known that McMahon paid a total of $12 million in hush money to 4 to 6 different women after signing NDAs with them.
This meant that McMahon couldn’t come back to WWE with the lawsuit still in progress and developing further, but many fans have turned on Grant, saying that she was in it for the money and called McMahon out when she saw the opportunity.
This is what former WWE star Stevie Richards observed when he was speaking to analyst James Romero on the Stevie Richards Show.
Stevie Richards Believes That Vince McMahon Could Return To WWE
WWE’s current CCO, Triple H, has come under fire for his creative decisions and booking, and fans have been clamoring for someone like Vince McMahon to come and shake things up.
Pat McAfee even addressed the state of the business in storyline, talking about how far it has fallen since its glory days of the Attitude Era.
When Stevie Richards was asked by James Romero if WWE is alluding to McMahon’s name for shock value, or if they actually plan to bring him back again, Richards says it’s a bit of both.
It’s both.
They dip their toe in the water. They test it out. This is a focus group type thing, and if people aren’t clapping back and like you said, as time goes on, more and more people are like “just bring Vince back already. She (Janel Grant) is a gold digger. She’s this. Whatever name they’re gonna call her.
The tide, at least on the internet, seems to be turning somewhat. (13:05 onwards)
Richards goes on to say that McMahon’s resurfacing in WWE could potentially lead to more NDAs being exposed.
WrestleMania 42 takes place at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas, Nevada, on the 18th and 19th of April.
