WWE Very Concerned After Star Suffers Serious Injury

Triple H WWE

WWE officials have been left very worried after an apparently serious injury took out one star during a title match on NXT.

The 13th of February edition of NXT saw a major NXT Women’s Championship match confirmed with Lyra Valkyria set to defend against SmackDown’s Shotzi.

That match was to air on the 20th of February edition of the show with the company taping an extra week of television as WWE is heading to Australia for Elimination Chamber.

Corey Brennan of Fightful was the first to report that the match between Valkyria and Shotzi was stopped after Shotzi went for a DDT on her opponent on the apron. The match was then stopped and Shotzi was helped backstage. It is believed she may have injured her knee after landing awkwardly on the floor but the extent of her injury is not yet known.

Shotzi’s Injury Described As Serious By WWE Sources

Fightful Select has now given an update on the situation noting that Shotzi hit her knee on the side of the ring leading to the injury that stopped her from finishing the match.

NXT sources noted Shotzi was unable to put any weight on her knee and got to the back thanks to help from WWE’s medical team. Officials were very concerned for the star and she was taken to be evaluated immediately. One source noted the injury was serious, describing what happened as a “freak accident” and there is no suggestion that the injury is a part of any storyline.

With Shotzi out of commission, NXT General Manager Ava made an open challenge to face Lyra Valkyria for the NXT Women’s Title. Lash Legend answered that challenge but was ultimately defeated by Valkyria. All three women were commended for their ability to adapt after the unfortunate situation that had unfolded.
