An update on some injured WWE veterans has revealed that one of them will remain out of action for the rest of this year.

Injuries are an unfortunate part of pro wrestling. When your job is literally to jump off objects and land with your back on the mat thousands of times per year, some people are going to hurt. That’s just the nature of the business and something all wrestlers know when they begin.

Robert Roode is a 25-year wrestling veteran that became a household name in TNA/Impact Wrestling for about 12 years until leaving the company in 2016. After joining the World Wrestling Entertainment NXT brand, Roode became “Glorious” with a memorable theme song that would lead him to the main roster as well.

Unfortunately for Roode, he suffered a serious neck injury that required neck fusion surgery last December.

In an update on Roode’s status, Fightful Select (available via subscription) reports that Roode is expected to be sidelined for the rest of 2023 due to the surgery.

During his WWE career, Roode is a former US Champion, three-time Tag Team Champion and an NXT Champion as well. Roode was also a TNA World Champion.

Another veteran WWE superstar is still recovering from a lengthy absence: R-Truth. Fightful Select reports that R-Truth is expected to miss most of 2023 after suffering a torn quadricep on the November 1, 2022 edition of NXT. Truth originally signed with WWE in 2000, was released for a few years and has been a WWE regular since 2008, which means he’s been around for the last 15 years.

Due to the injury of Roode & R-Truth, they were not eligible to be picked in the 2023 WWE Draft that began this past Friday on Smackdown.
