WWE Star Had No Warning Of Major New Role

It seems that one WWE star only found out about their elevated new role at the same time as fans watching at home did.

Ava recently announced her shock exit from WWE, bringing her six-year stint in the company to an end. She had been an in-ring talent as part of The Schism, but that part of her career failed to take off, and instead, she had been the NXT General Manager.

Her exit left a managerial hole on WWE’s third brand that was filled in short order when Robert Stone was named by Shawn Michaels as Ava’s replacement, at least on an interim basis.

And it seems the news came as a surprise to Stone as well.

Robert Stone Found Out About New WWE Role On TV

Speaking on Busted Open, Robert Stone revealed that the news came as a surprise, and he only found out when Shawn Michaels told him on TV:

Absolutely (he found out on TV), I had no clue before, I had no clue that was happening. Obviously, in my mind, I knew that the position was open. I knew that Ava was no longer going to be the GM, so am I hoping for that, that weekend, am I dreaming that that could be a reality? Yes, it could change everything for me, which it has, this past month.

“I’m sitting there on the edge of my seat like a kid in a candy store, but this is professional wrestling, I can’t get excited about something before it happens, because anything could happen. [h/t WrestleTalk]
