WWE Drops Seth Rollins Bombshell Ahead Of SummerSlam 2026

At SummerSlam, Seth Rollins aims to reclaim the championship her never lost.

In October 2025, Rollins was stripped of his World Heavyweight Championship after sustaining a legitimate injury at the Crown Jewel PLE in Perth, Australia, during his match against Cody Rhodes.

While The Visionary beat Rhodes, he injured his shoulder while performing a coast-to-coast. As a result, he was forced to undergo surgery and remained on the shelf for nearly six months.

Following Roman Reigns’ victory over Jacob Fatu in a Tribal Combat match at Clash in Italy, Seth Rollins announced himself as the challenger for the Raw championship.

WWE possibly revived this rivalry because both superstars are admittedly towards the near end of their wrestling careers and might not get to have an extensive feud in the future.

A couple of weeks ago, things got heated between them during an in-ring segment, leading to a fight breaking out, which ended after Seth hit a Stomp on Roman.

On July 27, Rollins again got under Reigns’ skin, this time by referencing the latter’s family. Again, a brawl broke out between them.

While Reigns managed to put Rollins down with a Spear, his subsequent chair attack did not go as planned because it gave Rollins enough time to recuperate and counterattack.

WWE Addresses Seth Rollins’ “Ruse Of The Century”

While Seth Rollins’ October 2025 injury was legitimate, the knee injury he suffered in July was anything but.

During his WWE Saturday Night’s Main Event match against LA Knight, Rollins attempted a failed springboard moonsault, landing awkwardly on his legs. He immediately clutched to his right knee and sat by the ring corner.

He briefly discussed his options with the ringside doctor and then-manager Paul Heyman. After deciding to continue with the match, Knight hit him with a BFT for the victory.

At SummerSlam, after CM Punk defeated Gunther to win the World Heavyweight Championship, Seth Rollins appeared on the ramp in crutches, telling Punk to enjoy his reign while it lasted.

Just as he was headed backstage, he stopped and dropped his props to a huge cheer from the New Jersey crowd. Rollins then cashed in his Money in the Bank and beat Punk to win the championship. Michael Cole on commentary called it the “ruse of the century.”

WWE addressed Rollins’ victory in its list of 25 shocking SummerSlam moments, placing it at No. 2.

The 2026 SummerSlam, meanwhile, will take place on August 1 & 2 at U.S. Bank Stadium in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
