The Miz, whose real name is Mike Mizanin, can add TV show hosting duties to his resume in addition to being a WWE Superstar. The new show is called Cannonball and it will debut on USA Network this summer. The co-host of the show Rosci Diaz and the sideline reporter is Simon Gibson.
Here’s more info via The Wrap:
The 10-episode “Cannonball” will premiere on USA in the summer. “Cannonball” will feature contestants from across America who face off in the “biggest, wettest, slippery-est water sports competition ever created,” according to the popular cable channel. From sliding off a 100-foot waterslide to rocketing off one of the world’s fastest drop towers, “Cannonball” contestants will battle a variety of water obstacles to win a $10,000 cash prize.
It sounds a lot like the former ABC show Wipeout.
The Miz tweeted about it here:
Incredibly honored to be the host of @USA_Network’s new show “Cannonball.” Every project for me is a passion project because I put everything into making it the very best it can be. Along w/ me are 2 incredible talents, @rocsidiaz & @simeygibson the chemistry is 🔥 #Cannonballhttps://t.co/k8kQHPFbVw

Here’s the career bio of The Miz courtesy of USA Network:
First introduced to TV audiences as one of the seven strangers on “The Real World: Back to New York,” Mizanin parlayed his reality TV fame into a successful WWE career. Making his WWE debut in 2006, he has since gone on to hold multiple championship titles including the WWE Championship, Intercontinental Championship, and Tag Team Championship. Mizanin has also starred in several films produced by WWE Studios, including “The Marine 3: Homefront,” “The Marine 4: Moving Target,” “The Marine 5: Battleground,” “The Marine 6: Close Quarters,” “Christmas Bounty” and “Santa’s Little Helper.”
TJR Thoughts: I wish The Miz the best with this show. I don’t watch these kinds of silly competition shows where people do stupid things for money, but some people obviously like it. I think Miz is a good choice for a show like this.
VELVETEEN DREAM INJURY UPDATE
There have been a lot of questions about where the former WWE NXT North American Champion Velveteen Dream has been for the last several months.
In an update on Velveteen Dream’s status, Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer reported on his radio show that Dream is dealing with a back injury with Meltzer commenting that it’s become a pretty serious injury. There’s no update on when Dream might return.
The last match that Velveteen Dream had on TV was on the September 18, 2019 edition of NXT. That was when Dream lost the North American Title to Roderick Strong.
TJR Thoughts: I like Velveteen Dream a lot, so I hope he can return soon. It’s been about four months now, which is a little concerning without having a definitive update on when he might return. The good thing is that Dream is only 24 years old, so he has a very bright future. He just has to get healthy first.
