WWE News: Jeff Hardy Knee Surgery Update, Expected to Miss 6 to 9 Months

This week on Smackdown, the Hardy Boyz were forced to relinquish the Smackdown Tag Team Titles due to Jeff Hardy suffering a knee injury that needs surgery. In their promo on the show, they blamed Lars Sullivan for it. In reality, Hardy hurt the knee during a recent live event and he was already dealing with the injury, so the decision was made to have surgery on the right knee of Jeff Hardy. They have not specifically said it’s a torn ACL, but Jeff noted the recovery time is about 6 to 9 months, which would suggest an ACL tear that needs surgery.

Here’s how Jeff explained it in the video below: “Surgery in a couple of days. I’m going to have my whole right knee repaired, everything in there that’s bad… so for 6-9 months it’s going to be bad. Hopefully, the first four months go extremely well.”

The reason they mentioned Lars Sullivan is because WWE is trying to put over Sullivan as a monster heel that can hurt people.

The 6-9 month time range means that Jeff will be out until later in 2019 or early 2020 at some point.

As for Jeff’s older brother Matt, he tweeted about a potential singles run, so we’ll see how that goes.

It is a sad day.
