WWE Slammed For Mistake In Stephanie McMahon-Cody Rhodes Promo
Stephanie McMahon made a rare WWE appearance on the latest Monday Night Raw episode.
The opening segment of the show featured SmackDown champion Cody Rhodes, who was on the red brand to promote his match against Randy Orton at WrestleMania.
But before he could speak, Stephanie came out to everyone’s surprise. Her objective was cautioning Rhodes about Orton, having shared a deep and dark past with The Viper.
Both Rhodes and McMahon exchanged words back and forth, with Stephanie pointing out that Cody lacked the killer instinct to beat his veteran opponent.
In doing so, she referenced Rhodes’ late father and WWE Hall of Famer, Dusty Rhodes, claiming that Cody was nothing like him.
Rhodes retorted by referencing former company boss Vince McMahon, stating that Stephanie was nothing like her father either.
Displeased by the comparison, The Billion Dollar Princess slapped the champion. She said that if Cody did not start thinking like Randy, he had no chance to retain his championship.
In reply, Rhodes thanked her before leaving the ring.
WWE Veteran Mocks Stephanie McMahon Promo
WWE veteran and former head writer Vince Russo discussed the Cody Rhodes-Stephanie McMahon promo segment on his YouTube podcast.
The 65-year-old went on to mock Stephanie slapping Rhodes, claiming that she should have agreed with him instead. Of course, Russo was referring to the controversies surrounding Vince McMahon, which led to his departure from the promotion.
So, she slaps him. Shouldn’t she have said, “And thank god Im not?” I mean, that’s the line! Like, you guys have no f**king b*lls whatsoever. When he says to her, you know, you’re not your father, that should insult her? That she’s not like her dad, that she’s not the chip off the old block? That she doesn’t have 80,000 NDAs, that she shouldn’t have said, “You’re damn right I’m not?” [0:46 onwards]
