A WWE legend will likely have his choice of wrestlers that he wants to face ahead of his retirement tour.

At WWE Crown Jewel in Perth, John Cena beat AJ Styles in a legendary match that saw both men hit signature moves of other wrestlers. Cena got the win in a match that earned both men a standing ovation from the crowd and behind he scenes as well.

Freddie Prinze Jr. is an accomplished actor and producer who is also a former WWE writer. While speaking about the John Cena-AJ Styles match at Crown Jewel on his Wrestling With Freddie podcast, Prinze made the point that other WWE superstars will happily face Styles in his final year of wrestling because of the respect that Styles has earned in the locker room.

“AJ Styles doesn’t lose anything, man, because this was about John Cena. And Styles will have his final run whenever he decides enough is enough and can get a cool storyline in there. They can easily boost him up with a couple of good wins, to have him in the title picture for one last story if that’s the way they want to do it.

There’s plenty of wrestlers who are like, yeah, I’ll lose to AJ Styles to prop him up for his final story. Basically, everyone on the roster would line up for that because of the respect and they love him. Maybe not everyone. I don’t know if there’s bad blood. But everything I’ve ever heard is he’s super respected in the locker room and I can see people going, ‘Yeah bro, I got you.'”

AJ Styles Says 2026 Will Be His Final Year As A WWE Superstar

Prior to the WWE Crown Jewel PLE, AJ Styles spoke on the Kickoff Show about his plans to retire in 2026.

“I’m getting old folks. Listen if I could find the fountain of youth and take a couple of sips I’d wrestle for the rest of my life. But you know, I am getting older, the fear of embarrassing myself is getting closer.

And you know what? There comes a time In a man’s life when he has to take care of business but when business is done it’s time to take care of his family. I need to spend time with my family.

The whole idea with wrestling and having an amazing future in this business is to be able to retire one day and in 2026 I will retire.”

Just like John Cena, AJ Styles is 48 years old and has been wrestling for the last 25 years, so, understandably, he wants to move on. It’s not known if WWE will give him a retirement tour like Cena, but Styles has made it clear that 2026 will be his last year as a wrestler.
