WWE Legend Sadly In Hospice: “It’s So Tragic”
A WWE Hall of Famer is currently in hospice, it has been revealed.
Mike Rotunda was best known for portraying the character Irwin R. Schyster, or IRS, in the Stamford promotion in the 1990s.
His gimmick was that of a former IRS tax collector, who often called his rivals and fans “tax cheats,” telling them to pay their share.
After a brief singles heel run, he joined Ted DiBiase to form Money Inc., with the duo winning the tag team gold thrice.
Due to the disbandment of Money Inc., he joined DiBiase again, this time as part of the Million Dollar Corporation, while continuing the same gimmick of IRS.
During this time, he feuded with The Undertaker, which culminated in a singles match between them at the 1995 Royal Rumble. In July of that year, he quit the company and left for WCW.
As a performer, Mike Rotunda also represented other promotions, including New Japan Pro Wrestling, All Japan Pro Wrestling, and IWA Japan.
Despite retiring in 2004, he made several sporadic appearances in WWE.
He was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame in 2024 as part of the U.S. Express alongside his brother-in-law and tag team partner Barry Windham.
Former WWE Star Barry Windham Discloses Mike Rotunda’s Health Struggles
American journalist Bill Apter interviewed Barry Windham recently, during which he learnt about Mike Rotunda being in hospice.
While appearing on Apter’s 1WrestlingVideo channel on YouTube, Windham was asked about the late Bray Wyatt, who is Rotunda’s son.
Windham did not speak much about Wyatt due to the sensitivity surrounding the subject, but he revealed that the 67-year-old had entered hospice.
It’s kinda tough right, you know, because Mike [Rotunda] is in hospice right now. Anyway, that family, I love that family, but it’s so tragic.
