Top AEW Star Breaks Silence After Surpassing Roman Reigns Record

A popular AEW star recently surpassed Roman Reigns’ historic record and has now reacted to the same. The star in discussion is Athena (fka Ember Moon).

From 2020 to 2024, Roman Reigns held the WWE Championship for a record 1316 days, which made it the longest world title reign of the modern era. Meanwhile, the record has now been surpassed by Athena as the Ring of Honor Women’s World Champion.

Athena had won the ROH Women’s World title back in December 2022, and has now reached more than 1317 days as champion. She also had a lot of successful title defenses throughout her historic reign. Meanwhile, The Fallen Goddess has reacted to creating history.

Taking to the X social media platform, Athena shared a post bragging about being the longest-reigning champ of the modern era, and surpassing Roman Reigns’ record:

Roman Reigns on the timeline for his potential retirement

While Roman Reigns is arguably the biggest star in WWE right now, he was recently asked about his retirement on the Nightcap Podcast at Fanatics Fest.

Reigns assured that he still has a few more years to go:

I definitely have a few more years in what I’m doing now. I guess it just depends on what the schedule would look like. And you’ve seen other performers. You know, I just talked to Undertaker a few minutes ago and he was like, ‘I’m working more than I did in the past 10 years.‘ Because he had a very nice schedule, but he put in a lot of work to get to that point. I guess it just depends on what the outside projects look like.”

Roman also claimed that he is still in his prime and is comfortable with around three years of elite-level performance:

But I definitely feel comfortable with a couple to three more years of just elite level top performance. I’m still in my prime. I still feel very good. I think it just gets to the point of where do I want to put my attention? I have a lot of children. I want to be able to give back that time to my wife that she sacrificed while I’ve chased this dream.”

Reigns concluded that he might be able to figure out what he wants to do after three years from now.
