WWE Legend Defends Triple H Amid Backstage Heat Rumors
Over the last year or so, Triple H has been tested like never before.
Despite WWE racking up record sums in revenue, it has struggled in terms of storytelling and faced flak for skyrocketing ticket prices.
In fact, the company’s higher-ups recently held an emergency meeting over a WrestleMania 42 crisis involving poor ticket sales.
Earlier reports even claimed that WWE and TKO informed several establishments within a 50-mile radius of the Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas that they won’t be able to broadcast WrestleMania 42, even if they pay a licensing fee. This was a move implemented to improve ticket sales.
Triple H also copped heat for some of the 2025 releases that saw negotiations being mishandled between the talent and the company.
Triple H Praised For His WWE Role
Now, former WWE star and one-half of the current TNA World Champions, Matt Hardy, has jumped to the defense of the 56-year-old. Speaking to Bill Apter on the 1Wrestling podcast, he said:
You have to look at how successful WWE’s been. TKO, some people have been critical about how they have made ticket prices much higher than they should be and whatever else, but he’s still bringing people into the building.
He is constantly creating compelling characters, compelling stories, compelling moments. Some people say, ‘Oh, he just does it for the pop’ – but that’s what pro-wrestling is.
I think Paul Levesque has done an excellent job, and it’s nice to have someone a little younger – he’s an old school guy, but he’s much more on the pulse of modern day pop culture than Vince was. [H/T: WrestleTalk.com]
