WWE Forcing Major Ban In Las Vegas For WrestleMania 42
WrestleMania is on the horizon, but it seems WWE is making a big change that will leave many fans deeply unhappy.
For the second year in a row, WrestleMania will return to Las Vegas on April 18th and 19th. So far, the only match seemingly made official for the show is Roman Reigns challenging CM Punk for the World Heavyweight Championship after Reigns won the recent Royal Rumble. All of that depends on Punk still holding his title until April, but that seems to be in WWE’s plans.
But now, it’s WWE’s business plans that are making headlines.
WrestleMania In Las Vegas Facing Major WWE Ban
Fightful Select has now reported that fans planning to head to Las Vegas to soak in the atmosphere, catch some other wrestling, but not pay exorbitant ticket fees to see WrestleMania, might be out of luck.
The report notes that the distributor of WrestleMania broadcasts has informed several establishments in Sin City that they won’t be able to broadcast WrestleMania 42, even if they pay a licensing fee to do so. A new protocol is being put in place for the event, banning places within 50 miles of Allegiant Stadium from showing it live. It’s believed this has been done to increase ticket sales for the event.
A number of talents are said to have already agreed deals to appear at WrestleMania watchalongs in Las Vegas that are now in serious doubt. A source familiar with the situation noted that this ban undermines one of the key reasons for bringing WrestleMania to a city: boosting tourism.
