What Roman Reigns Said Immediately After WWE Royal Rumble Win

Roman Reigns gave his candid thoughts backstage after winning the WWE Royal Rumble.

The former WWE World Champion, Roman Reigns, won big at the Royal Rumble in Riyadh when he won the Men’s Royal Rumble match for the second time in his career. Reigns won the match by last eliminating Gunther.

There is a report claiming that WWE originally wanted Bron Breakker to win the Royal Rumble, but that was changed to Reigns, who won the Rumble match for the first time in 11 years.

In a Vlog on WWE’s YouTube channel, Roman Reigns was shown walking in the backstage area when he spotted the camera and spoke confidently.

“Need I say more? It was only a matter of time. Now the real work starts. In one year’s time, excuse me, one year and a couple months, this city’s mine again. I’m gonna choke the life out of this game.”

What Reigns was referring to by saying in one year’s time was the fact that Saudi Arabia will host WrestleMania 43 in 2027, and it sounds like Reigns plans to be in a dominant position on that show, too.

During an appearance on WWE Monday Night Raw in Philadelphia after the Royal Rumble, Roman Reigns announced that he would challenge CM Punk for the World Heavyweight Title at WrestleMania 42 while claiming that he doesn’t like Punk.

“This is what we do, man. We talk s**t and then we find a way to find that solution and it usually happens out there [in the ring]. Nobody who has been here for a long time has thin skin. You just learn, that’s just what it is.

We’re all thick skinned alphas here. You’re going to hear a lot of stuff, you’re going to hear a lot of jabs here and there. When it comes to it, I’m the slyest with it. I’ll sit there and pepper you without you even knowing. But nah, it is what it is.

When you’ve been here and you’ve done what I’ve done, you built that equity to share your opinion. I s**t I think and the s**t I say matters, you know what I mean? I earned that.

Nobody gave it to me, I had to take it. It wasn’t easy. That’s what everybody thinks. It’s, ‘oh, he’s gone’ — it was not easy when I got here. John Cena, Randy Orton, Big Show, Kane, sweetheart but still, I had to pry this s**t from the grips of the veterans. Nobody else did it but me. I say what I want.”
