WWE Hit With Another Injury Ahead Of WrestleMania
Ahead of the WWE WrestleMania weekend, every wrestler in the company hopes to be injury-free.
However, with just under four weeks to go for the Show of Shows, the Stamford promotion has received news it did not want to hear.
Over the weekend, during an NXT Live show in Lakeland, Florida, Lexis King was featured in an 8-man tag team match alongside his Birthright stablemates against the babyfaces quartet of Elio LeFleur, Eli Knight, Kale Dixon, and Tavion Heights.
The match earned notoriety for being stopped multiple times due to one wrestler or another sustaining an injury.
The first on the list was King, who took a hard knee shot to his face. The match was briefly paused as the medical team addressed the situation.
While the fight progressed, LeFleur soon fell victim to the turnbuckles, considered nastier by those in attendance.
During the March 24 taping of WWE NXT, Birthright’s Charlie Dempsey competed in an NXT North American Championship #1 Gauntlet Eliminator match, when commentator Vic Joseph addressed King’s absence by revealing that he was not cleared to compete.
The match was ultimately won by Johnny Gargano, but it also witnessed brief interference from other members of Birthright—Stacks, Arianna Grace, and Uriah Connors.
Birthright To Face WWE’s Los Americanos Next Week
The Los Americanos duo of Rayo and Bravo made their second consecutive appearance on WWE NXT on Tuesday.
The masked wrestlers were the surprise opponents of The Culling’s Shawn Spears and Niko Vance, with the winners advancing to challenge Birthright to become the NXT Tag Team #1 Contenders.
The heels dominated most of the match, with Vance causing most of the damage to the opponents. In the end, however, Rayo and Bravo earned a cheap victory when Rayo equipped his mask with a metal plate and headbutted Spears.
While Lexis King is advertised to compete in that match, it remains to be seen if he gains full fitness by that time.
