Randy Orton shocked the wrestling world by turning heel on Friday.

On the March 13 taping of SmackDown, The Viper was featured in a contract signing segment with WWE Champion Cody Rhodes for their match at WrestleMania 42.

Orton briefly expressed doubt over his place in the main event, but Rhodes reassured him that he was where he was supposed to be.

The 45-year-old finally signed the contract, after which he hugged the champion.

However, he immediately slammed Cody Rhodes’ head on the table, leaving him staggering. What followed was a brutal assault that left the 40-year-old bleeding profusely from his forehead.

Orton hit the killer blow after he hit The American Nightmare with a chair when his head was placed between the steel steps. He then went into the ring and sat on a tattered chair with the Undisputed WWE Championship.

Mark Henry Is Happy For Randy Orton

WWE Hall of Famer Mark Henry spoke on Busted Open Radio, where he expressed happiness over Randy Orton’s heel turn on SmackDown.

I’m so damn happy right now that Randy Orton is back to being the Viper. Don’t trust him, fear him, and treat him like he’s gonna punch you at any moment. That’s what I want.

Henry claimed that Orton’s portrayal of heel has won him praise in the past with veterans, which continues to this day.

But I’m gonna tell you — you know who’s loving this more than me? Bob Armstrong, Bob Orton, the older guys. Jesse Ventura — I bet you he is laughing his ass off right now because they respect the gangster. They respect the guy that he knows he could be good, but he chooses to be bad.

The 54-year-old then drove a parallel between his time as the heel to Randy Orton’s performance as the bad guy in WWE, claiming he preferred being a heel.

Regardless of how nice I was, respectful, as much as I love being Sexual Chocolate, as much as I love being the World’s Strongest Man — you know where I made the most money? In the Hall of Pain.

The people wanted to see me kick people’s ass, run people through cages, whip people with belts. That’s what I want from Randy.
