Breaking: Randy Orton Turns Heel; Severly Injures Cody Rhodes On WWE SmackDown

The main event of WWE SmackDown tonight was one that the entire WWE Universe was looking forward to, as it was scheduled to be the contract signing for the WrestleMania 42 main event.

After defeating Drew McIntyre for the Undisputed WWE Championship last week, Cody Rhodes is now set to face Randy Orton at the Showcase of the Immortals next month.

The two former Legacy members met each other in the ring tonight for the contract signing of their WrestleMania match before things turned sour between Cody and Randy.

Cody Rhodes went into the segment full of love and respect for Orton and stated that he will always love him, regardless of who wins their championship bout.

Orton seemed conflicted before the signing, but ultimately signed the contract before hugging Cody in the ring. However, it turned out to be his ruse as The Viper struck Rhodes when he least expected it.

The Legend Killer then immediately smashed Cody’s head into the table before continuing his assault outside. He sent Cody over the announce table before smashing his head with the Steel Steps.

This left Cody bloodied as security, and Nick Aldis tried to step in. Orton ended up shoving both Aldis and his SummerSlam partner, Jelly Roll, aside before leaving Cody lying on the announce table, with his head lying on the steel steps. After seemingly leaving the arena, Orton returned to smash Rhodes’ head with a steel chair.
