WWE Determining WrestleMania Cities In Different Ways

WrestleMania Triple H WWE

The leaders at WWE are not going to determine WrestleMania host cities in the same way that the company did in the past.

It was announced on Saturday after WWE Backlash that Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas will host WrestleMania 41 on April 19 & 20, 2025. The reason it’s taking place two weeks later than usual is because WWE wants to avoid the Men’s & Women’s NCAA college basketball tournaments so they chose to run it on Easter weekend instead.

That news of Las Vegas hosting WrestleMania likely upset residents near Minneapolis because the state of Minnesota was considered a favorite to host WrestleMania 41 at one point. Officials in Minnesota who were part of their bid claimed that WWE’s new TKO Group led by Endeavor wanted a Vegas Mania event.

It has also been reported by PWInsider that before Endeavor officially acquired WWE in September 2023, cities like New Orleans, Las Vegas and Orlando were considered front-runners for future events over the next several years. New Orleans and Orlando have hosted multiple Manias since WWE went to running stadiums over the last two decades.

Those cities were the original plan when John Saboor was WWE’s EVP of Special Events. Saboor left WWE last year to work for Full Sail University in Orlando.

The report from PWInsider noted that Minneapolis made a major bid to host WrestleMania 41, but the Endeavor bosses wanted Las Vegas since it’s a more prestigious market. Plus, Endeavor also owns UFC and there’s a strong relationship with the UFC in Las Vegas, so that’s another why management wanted Vegas.

It was also added that Orlando and New Orleans are not guaranteed locks to host Mania events going forward just because they held them in the past.

WWE Wants Cities To Bid On Hosting WrestleMania Events

It was also mentioned in PWInsider’s report that WrestleMania sites will be based on how much money WWE can get from rights fees in the market and also how much governments bid to host the event.

As for London, England wanting to host WrestleMania, it was mentioned that WWE President Nick Khan’s team is “extremely receptive” to the idea. That’s because the goal is always to maximize profits in every potential revenue streak.

What this also is that any past plans and traditions don’t matter now that there’s a new regime running World Wrestling Entertainment.
