Popular WWE Character Exiled: “She Let Her Country Down”
Lana opens up about her potential return to WWE.
The Ravishing Russian left WWE in 2021, after which she joined AEW for a brief period. Following her departure from AEW, she signed a WWE Legends contract in 2025.
Both in WWE and AEW, Lana used to work alongside her real-life husband, Rusev, who was known as Miro in AEW. Rusev returned to the Stamford-based promotion in April 2025, whereas Lana has not yet returned to WWE TV.
Lana Teases WWE Return and Reunion With Rusev
During a recent interview with Ariel Helwani, Lana was asked about her potential return to WWE. She used storytelling to explain that she hasn’t yet accompanied Rusev on WWE television since his return because her on-screen character is currently in exile in Siberia, framing her physical absence as an active part of a narrative.
She added that she is bound to return to WWE “sooner rather than later” and mentioned that she is currently dedicating her time to writing for the combat sports and professional wrestling media platform, Uncrowned, as well as exploring stand-up comedy and podcasting.
“Lana, right now, is exiled in Siberia. She let her country down and is doing work there. CJ, when the time is right, I will appear. Hopefully, that will happen sooner rather than later, but in the meantime, I’m focusing on writing for Uncrowned. I love new journeys.”
“If I can be in the world of storytelling and entertaining, if it’s on a podcast, stand up, writing a wrestling column, I am very grateful that I can stay in the business or storytelling and hopefully entertain and put a smile on faces.”
Helwani asked if she wanted to manage or work alongside Rusev. She replied that it would be her dream to do so.
“That would be a dream, for sure. I love working with my husband. One of my favorite things to do is collaborate with, [and] create with other creatives, and I think my husband is one of the most creative, smart, funny, athletic, iconic wrestlers and creative minds that I know.”
