Triple H Fired Ex-WWE Champions After Backstage Altercation With Wyatt Sicks
This former WWE tag team was released from the company following an altercation backstage with another famous faction.
The Authors of Pain (AOP) were a tag team in WWE that comprised stars Akam and Rezar.
They were one-time Raw Tag Team Champions and one-time NXT Tag Team Champions during their run after they debuted in 2016.
They were initially released from their contract in 2020 but returned for another run in 2024. An altercation with the Wyatt Sicks backstage and seemingly unprofessional behavior from one of the members of the faction following AOP’s match with them led to WWE releasing the tag team once again.
Rezar(Real name: Gzim Selmani) recently opened up about the incident on Ariel Helwani’s show.
Ariel Helwani Interviews Former WWE Star Rezar And Asks Him About The Wyatt Sicks incident.
In the interview, Rezar openly speaks about “unprofessional behavior” by a Wyatt Sicks member that led to his team AOP’s release from WWE.
Rezar explains how changes were happening during his team’s match with the Wyatt Sicks when some members of the Wyatt Sicks apparently refused to take some moves.
He says that they shouldn’t have done that in between the bout, and there was an altercation they had backstage after the match, which later led to the tag team being released.
Helwani: “Could I just ask about the end? What happened with the Wyatt Sicks and all that? This, this thing that people are saying, led to you leaving the company. Can you tell us?”
Rezar: “Yeah, there was an incident, very unprofessional from one of those guys. I don’t know their names. You know, I don’t want to go into it too deeply, but there was an incident at one of the holiday tours that we did. And yeah, somebody tried to switch up the match during the match. And, you know, that’s just a no-go for me, especially if you’ve just been in the company for a little bit, and we were already there for a long time. You know, you don’t do that. And, uh, yeah, I just had to let somebody know, and that was the end of it.”
Helwani: “So is that happening in the middle of the match, like you’re talking about this?”
Rezar: “They tried to switch up the match in the middle of the match, so you know, I’m a professional. You know, even if I got to take a beating in a wrestling ring, I do it. And if you’re going to be a scared little, you know, bitch, then it’s not my fault, you know? So I will let you know backstage.”
Helwani: “And the result was you winning and they tried to change it to you losing?”
Rezar: “No. It was, uh, you know, certain moves that we did got you—some of the guys didn’t want to take it because they were, uh, yeah, we’re big guys. So if we lift you up and double spinebuster somebody 5 days, 5 nights in a row, then the 6th night, you know, somebody can complain, but don’t change it during the match.
Helwani: “Sure. No, I get that. And, and that was it? That was an argument backstage and then you were done?”
Rezar: “Yes.”
Helwani: “Did you think that was fair?”
Rezar: “It happened, you know, I’m okay with it.”
Helwani: “Okay, you’re at peace with it?”
Rezar: “Yeah.”
