WWE Champion Steps Into NXT Ring; Makes Debut Against BirthRight’s Lexis King
Elio LeFleur made a shocking announcement on WWE NXT last week as he revealed that he will be out injured for the next six months with a torn shoulder ligament, leading to him relinquishing his WWE Speed Championship.
Interim General Manager, Robert Stone, announced on last week’s episode that the tournament to crown a new Speed Champion will begin this week, and the first match took place tonight.
BirthRight’s Lexis King entered into the tournament as he looks to add more gold to the group in addition to Arianna Grace’s TNA Knockouts Championship. He faced off against a debuting WWE champion in the tournament.
WWE ID champion appears on NXT tonight
King faced WWE ID Champion, Chazz ‘Starboy’ Hall, formerly known as Starboy Charlie on the independent circuit. He made his NXT debut tonight in the Speed tournament as he looked to add another title to his name.
However, he was stopped in his tracks by Lexis King who defeated him in the first round after he hit him with the Coronation to get the win for himself and proceed to the finals.
The leader of BirthRight now moved one step closer to winning the WWE Speed Championship and will face the winner of the match between EK Prosper and Dorian Van Dux in the final of the tournament.
