Cody Rhodes is interested in taking up a backstage role in WWE.

Speaking on the latest edition of the Ariel Helwani Show, the Undisputed WWE Champion stated that he has been interested in a backstage role in WWE for some time now. He wants to join WWE’s creative team in the future.

“I’ve always had an interest in it. I had an interest in it when my dad did it, and was a performer. I had an interest in it, had my time away from WWE when I was an executive vice president. And I certainly would be lying to you if I said I don’t have an interest in it.” (H/T Wrestling Observer)

Cody Rhodes has previously stated that he’d love to step into Triple H’s shoes as the creative head of WWE.

Rhodes is currently busy representing WWE as the “self-proclaimed” face of the company, but perhaps he might switch to a creative role in WWE after he hangs up his wrestling boots.

Cody Rhodes Shares His Retirement Plans

Cody Rhodes told Ariel that he plans to wrestle for around five more years and retire from in-ring competition after that. He confirmed that his next WWE contract will be his last one, as he doesn’t plan to wrestle forever.

“I do think it does take a toll, at a certain point and I don’t think in 10 years I’ll still be going. I think there will be another QB1 of WWE at that point.”

“As far as in-ring competition and I don’t think that’s breaking news to anyone. Turning 41 in a week and I feel the best I’ve ever felt as an athlete, but I do think in 10 years, I will no longer be wrestling bell to bell. No.”

“I think five years would be a, you know… Five years sounds good. Like, if I was to sign a new contract, maybe it would be for five years.”
