What Caused Road Dogg To Quit WWE Creative Team, If It Was Expected

There are more details about why WWE Hall of Famer Road Dogg quit the company’s creative team.

A big behind-the-scenes story in WWE took place this week as Hall of Famer “Road Dogg” Brian James quit the company after being a writer on the SmackDown creative team.

While Road Dogg had a Hall of Fame career as a wrestler, he has had multiple stints as a writer behind the scenes and was recently in a position as a Co-Lead Writer on SmackDown.

The WWE Creative Team is overseen by Hall of Famer, Paul “Triple H” Levesque, who has been one of Road Dogg’s best friends for about three decades when they were young men trying to find their way as wrestlers.

However, the creative team in a pro wrestling company, even one as big as WWE, is constantly changing. The reports from earlier in the week noted that Road Dogg literally quit in person and is no longer part of the creative team.

People In WWE Knew Road Dogg Was Unhappy

The Wrestling Observer Newsletter’s Dave Meltzer has provided some more information on Road Dogg’s sudden WWE departure, noting that people in the company expected it to happen. Meltzer added that Dogg wasn’t happy with WWE’s review of his work.

“James got his annual review. The belief is that he wasn’t happy with it and left.

He may say he left over something else, and only he would know exactly why he did so. But it was his decision, and it came after his annual review.

One person close to the situation said that it has been brewing.

He was going to do a convention later this month, and it was approved, and then the approval was rescinded, and he had to cancel, but in pulling out pretty much said that wouldn’t be an issue starting in a little while.”

Even though Road Dogg is no longer part of the WWE creative team afte rhe walked out, he still has a WWE Legends Deal, and that’s what Meltzer mentioned regarding Dogg going to wrestling conventions.
