How WWE Internally Views Triple H Running Creative Team Amid Online Criticism
There are people within WWE who admit that Triple H running the company is as difficult as ever.
As the WWE Chief Content Officer and a Hall of Fame wrestler, Paul “Triple H” Levesque seems qualified to run the company creatively.
After all, not only did Triple H sit by former WWE Chairman Vince McMahon’s side for many years, but he also successfully ran the NXT brand to unprecedented heights in the 2010s “black & gold” era.
While The Game earned a lot of praise for running WWE well creatively during his first couple of years as the main booker, that was also when Roman Reigns was carrying things as “The Tribal Chief” with The Bloodline. Since then, WWE’s product has been criticized for its plans constantly changing and not having enough exciting storylines.
Earlier this week, WWE Hall of Famer “Road Dogg” Brian James literally quit his job as one of the lead writers on SmackDown, and he’s been a friend of Triple H for over 30 years.
Triple H Is In A Tough Spot Running WWE’s Creative Team
In this week’s Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dave Meltzer spoke to a WWE source about how Triple H has to find a way to juggle being a good guy to the talent on the roster while also navigating the negative feelings of online wrestling fans. According to this source, WWE is paying attention to what fans are saying while also trying to stick to their plans.
“One person in the company noted at this point in time, it’s tough playing babyface booker, the ultra-wise manipulator behind the scenes.
It was noted how tough it is with an online community that is critical. It was noted that you have to be able to decipher the true criticism from those who just like to criticize everything you do, saying it’s bad with zero concept of whether it is or not or of business.
It was noted that things would be better, and there would be less direction changing and second guessing, instead of Levesque trying to be the sage architect, he’d have a much easier time of it and he’d be doing “at least on par with how he was doing before.””
Now that WWE Elimination Chamber is in the past, WWE will really begin its push to build the WrestleMania 42 card for the massive show on April 18 & 19 in Las Vegas.
