WWE SmackDown General Manager Nick Aldis grabbed headlines in the aftermath of Elimination Chamber as a chaotic end to the night saw Drew McIntyre interfere once again.

The Undisputed WWE Champion entered the match to cost Cody Rhodes another shot at his title. He hit Cody with the belt but was taken out by Randy Orton, who then hit an RKO on Rhodes to win the match.

Nick Aldis was extremely angered by Drew’s actions as he disregarded Aldis’ pleas one time too many tonight. Aldis announced on the post-show conference that McIntyre will defend his title against Cody Rhodes on the coming episode of WWE SmackDown.

Triple H responds to Undisputed WWE Championship match announcement

Following Aldis’ announcement, Triple H was interviewed backstage by Jackie Redmond, and she asked the CCO about his thoughts on Nick Aldis’ surprise decision. The Game responded to the decision, stating that you can only push your boss so many times.

Well, look, as a performer, you can only push your boss so far. Look, I applaud Nick Aldis for taking a stand. Drew McIntyre’s been told over and over again by so many people, ‘Stay out of it. Mind your own business. Stay out of it. Don’t get involved in this. Don’t be in the building. Don’t be here. Don’t be there. Go home. And he just kept pushing and pushing and pushing. The thing with that is once you push you gotta get ready to get pushed back. He just got pushed back. Nick Aldis is tired of it. Nick Aldis makes the match for this Friday night, Drew McIntyre vs. Cody Rhodes. Cody Rhodes right now finds himself on the outside looking in at WrestleMania. It’s an unfamiliar place for him, and it’s cold out there. He’s gonna be driven. But also, Drew McIntyre’s gonna be driven not to lose his spot. This is gonna be interesting,” Triple H said.

Randy Orton had seemingly set up a match with McIntyre at WrestleMania 42 following his win at Elimination Chamber, but with a title match now set for this Friday, he may well end up facing his protege, Cody Rhodes, at the Showcase of Immortals.
