Von Erich Family Member Reacts To A24’s “The Iron Claw” Trailer

The Iron Claw

Marshall Von Erich took to social media to explain why The Iron Claw isn’t 100% accurate, but says A24 “nailed” one aspect of the film.

The Von Erich family are the stuff of wrestling royalty, but their rise to wrestling superstardom has been fraught with tragedy. Following the sudden passing of David Von Erich at the young age of 25, his brothers Mike, Kerry, and Chris all ended up taking their own lives. Family patriarch and World Class Championship Wrestling promoter Fritz Von Erich passed away from brain and lung cancer at the age of 68. Of the brothers, only Kevin survives.

In June of 2022, Deadline reported that Zac Efron wold be starring in an A24 film chronicling the life of the Von Erich family. It was later revealed that he would be playing the role of Kevin Von Erich, who is one of the last surviving members of the wrestling dynasty and was on hand for the family’s induction into the WWE Hall of Fame in 2009. Efron underwent a major physical transformation for his role.

The film also stars Jeremy Allen White as Kerry Von Erich and will feature current AEW World Champion MJF as Lance Von Erich. White also bulked up for his role, putting on 40lbs.

Back in July, it was revealed that The Iron Claw is set to be released in theaters just ahead of Christmas on December 22nd. On October 11th, A24 released its first trailer for the film, focusing primarily on David and Kerry Von Erich.

“They Nailed The Wardrobe” – Marshall Von Erich On The Iron Claw

Kevin Von Erich’s son and MLW star Marshall Von Erich took to social media after the trailer’s release, noting that while the film won’t be completely accurate due to Kevin not being involved, he’s looking forward to the story being told. He wrote:

“I knew it wouldn’t be 100% accurate because my Dad wasn’t Involved but those of you that know our family know that God played a major role in our story. Still excited about it and think it can help a lot of people that are suffering from loss. They nailed the wardrobe tho”
