A recent report opened up on the reason why CM Punk has been absent for quite a while now.

After a great World Heavyweight title reign for months, CM Punk was rewarded with the night 2 main event of WrestleMania 42, where he defended his title against Roman Reigns in a losing cause. The match was widely regarded as one of the best Mania main events in history, as Punk and Roman had great chemistry with each other.

After he lost his World title at WrestleMania 42, CM Punk showed up on RAW the night after for a segment with the WWE Champion Cody Rhodes. The Second City Saint has been absent from TV for nearly two months now. Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful.com recently reported that Punk was planned for some shows after Mania before getting pulled back.

Where the heck is CM Punk? Well, he was planned for shows following WrestleMania, and then all of a sudden, he just wasn’t. Now it’s very surprising for me to not see him on the European tour because he’s a big draw. I haven’t heard of an injury of any sort. That doesn’t mean that one can’t exist.”

Sapp also noted that Punk could either be dealing with some nagging injuries or he has limited dates on his contract:

Usually by now, where we’re going into, was it two months without CM Punk? It’s something that we would have heard about, or word would have made its way through WWE if so. But as things stand, he’s not been around for a while. I would assume, one, probably healing up some nagging injuries. Two, probably has, you know, a limited number of dates on his contract.”

Major update on CM Punk’s WWE absence

Amid his WWE absence, a recent report from WrestleVotes reported that CM Punk is taking a well-deserved rest and will be back soon at the top of the card. It was also reported that it is not true that Triple H and his creative team do not have any plans for Punk:

It’s a well-deserved rest for a guy who’s been going, outside of injury, for three straight years. Just main evented WrestleMania—get a little time off. He’ll be back in no time, right back at the top of the card. It is not true they have no plans for CM Punk.” [H/T Ringside News]

When CM Punk will finally be back on WWE TV remains to be seen.
