Following weeks of rumours, Trish Stratus has made her return to WWE on Monday Night Raw, helping an old friend achieve championship gold in the process.
Reports had suggested that Stratus was set for a return to WWE following the re-emergence of Lita on the 6th of February edition of Raw. Lita came to the aid of Becky Lynch who was facing Bayley in a steel cage match that was being interrupted by the Damage CTRL pairing of IYO SKY and Dakota Kai. Lynch picked up the win over Bayley but she and Lita’s partnership was just beginning.
Bayley accepted a challenge on the WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions’ behalf for Raw in Grand Rapids, Michigan with SKY and Kai forced to put their title on the line against Becky Lynch and Lita.
With that match taking place, Bayley provided an edge for Damage CTRL on the outside of the ring, with her interventions in the bout looking to prove ever more decisive. However, she was stopped in her tracks when Trish Stratus emerged to even the odds and take out The Role Model.
In the ring, IYO SKY was locked in the Disarm-her by Becky Lynch which allowed Lita to hit a huge moonsault on Kai to pick up the win. With that victory, Lita captured her first championship in WWE since 2006.
Stratus was reported to be planned for the previous week’s Raw show but those plans were abandoned with the seven-time WWE Women’s Champion seemingly leaving the event before the segment she was originally meant to be involved in.
