Triple H Receives Shocking WWE Complaint: “We’re Dealing With BS”

A lifelong WWE fan in the entertainment field revealed an interesting conversation he had with Triple H about something that bothers many fans.

One of the big complaints about WWE WrestleMania 42 this past April was that there were far too many advertisements during the two nights of shows that are supposed to feature action.

Instead of wrestlers getting a lot of time for some matches, several of them were kept under 10 minutes so there could be 3-4-minute ad breaks between matches.

In the past, when wrestling fans watched Premium Live Events (or PPVs), they didn’t have to see ads because the idea was that you were paying for the show, so that should cover the costs. However, in today’s WWE world, ESPN is paying WWE billions to air PLEs on ESPN Unlimited, and so is Netflix, but many Netflix users don’t see ads. However, there are moving graphics that let users know, “We’ll Be Right Back.”

Regardless of how good a match or show is, fans are going to complain about ads because they aren’t used to them on PLEs, and many users don’t want to see them during WWE TV shows either.

As the WWE Chief Content Officer, Paul “Triple H” Levesque likely doesn’t have much say in advertising, but it’s something WWE owners, TKO Group, likely decide. It’s also something ESPN may want to include during broadcasts because it can make money by selling ads.

Triple H Is Aware Of WWE Running Too Many Ads

O’Shea Jackson is the son of actor/rapper Ice Cube and a very successful actor in his own right. Jackson is also a lifelong WWE fan who hosts a wrestling podcast. During his recent appearance on the Ariel Helwani Show, Jackson talked about when he appeared on Stephanie McMahon’s podcast, and when he saw Triple H after, he told WWE’s CCO about his issues with the ads.

“I went to go do Stephanie McMahon’s pod. Afterwards, because I did it at WWE headquarters, Triple H comes down, we all, you know, we’re talking, yada yada yada. Then I brought up my transgressions. I was like, ‘dude, the ads are crazy. Like, it’s almost unwatchable.’

They know. It’s just about they’re working on placement of them, maybe. I get it. Roman Reigns’ entrance is 7 minutes long, but that doesn’t mean that that’s the time to throw the ads in. There should never be a moment where I miss Iyo Sky’s entrance because we are back from commercial break.

It’s a level of respect for them. It’s fine in the middle of a match, but like, at least picture-in-picture me, you know?

It’s for sure soulless, but I mean, like, to get to a billion, I don’t know what you got to do, but it sounds pretty soulless. We’re dealing with Bs, not Ms.”

Jackson’s conversation with Triple H was a few months ago, and nothing has really changed, as the Backlash PLE earlier this month also featured ads between matches.

Whether Triple H is really aware and really willing to fight for a change in ads on WWE programming is not known, but perhaps Jackson mentioning it in public will help.
