Winning the Royal Rumble is a prestigious honor, and this year it was bestowed upon Jey Uso. He won the men’s Royal Rumble match and went on to challenge Gunther for the World Heavyweight Championship at The Grandest Stage of Them All, WrestleMania. Uso defeated The Ring general to win his first World title in WWE.

Before Jey Uso embarked on his journey as this year’s Royal Rumble winner and eventually received a major push, WWE’s Chief Content Officer, Triple H, made a significant request of him, a moment now recognized as the turning point of his career.

Triple H Requested Jey Uso Not To Disappoint Him

Netflix’s recent sports documentary series, WWE Unreal, showcased a behind-the-scenes moment before the Royal Rumble, where Triple H pulled Jey Uso aside to reveal that he was slated to win the event. Before giving him the big push, Hunter asked Jey Uso for his word that he wouldn’t disappoint. He promised he wouldn’t let HHH down.

“I know there’s a lot of newfound fame. I know there’s a lot of newfound excitement and all that stuff. I wanna put a rocket on your a**. That’s what I’ve got planned between now and Mania. But I need to know that the rocket doesn’t crash-land. If played right, we’re just getting started. So you’re gonna have everything you want in life. I believe in you, ” said Triple H.

True to his word, Jey delivered spectacularly, riding an incredible wave of momentum all the way to WrestleMania and beyond.
