Triple H had heat with CM Punk when they were both active wrestlers in 2011

Triple H’s friend and a member of the infamous “Kliq”, Kevin Nash, returned in 2011 at SummerSlam to cost CM Punk the World Heavyweight title.

A feud was supposed to build between the two, but Triple H jumped in instead to have a match at Night of Champions with CM Punk and defeated him.

Nash said on his podcast that the reason was that Punk commented on Triple H and Stephanie, which angered The Game, leading him to put himself into the contest in Nash’s place to defeat Punk.

Steven Richards Explains Why Triple H Buried The Hatchet With CM Punk

Punk returned to WWE in November 2023 after a 10-year hiatus and is the current World Heavyweight Champion on Raw.

Triple H retired from wrestling in 2021 and is the current CCO of WWE. Both men are working together at the top level in the Stamford-based promotion.

On the Steven Richards Show, former WWE Hardcore Champion, Steven Richards, following the comments made by Kevin Nash on his podcast, said that Triple H buried the hatchet with The Second City Saint because of the money that WWE is making with Punk.

He tailed off Nash’s comments that said major heat between two wrestlers can disappear after a few years when the money takes center stage, saying that even though Punk and Triple H may not be best friends, they need each other professionally to bring in millions of dollars.

What I’m saying is that they need each other in a way professionally.

Do they get along? Yeah. Are they best friends? I don’t know. But it sounds like that last line is, well, we got to make money together.

We got to get along, pal. We got to go along to get along and that’s all water under the bridge. (2:32 onwards)
