Top WWE NXT Star In Town For Payback PLE

A current champion on WWE’s NXT brand will apparently be in town for the Payback Premium Live Event.

The WWE Payback Premium Live Event will take place tonight in Pittsburgh. One of the big matches on the show is a Steel Cage Match between former WWE Women’s Champion Becky Lynch and WWE Hall of Famer Trish Stratus. It’s a rivalry that started about five months ago when Trish turned on Lynch after they had success as a tag team.

This past Monday on Raw, the current NXT Women’s Champion Tiffany Stratton was shown in the crowd a few times during the show. It’s not a new thing because WWE has brought NXT talent to Raw or Smackdown shows just to put them on camera to tease something possibly happening.

Tiffany Stratton has been NXT Women’s Champion since winning the title at NXT Battleground, so it’s been just over three months for her as champion.

During a recent promo on NXT TV, Stratton was talking about being the best NXT Women’s Champion ever. Stratton mentioned former champions like former champions Bayley, Asuka and Charlotte Flair. Stratton also mentioned Becky Lynch, but the interesting thing about that is Lynch was never the NXT Women’s Champion.

Lynch responded to Stratton’s gaffe, which certainly could have been intentional, with this tweet noting that “The Man” hasn’t held that NXT Women’s Title…yet.

Tiffany Stratton Attending WWE Payback Premium Live Event

Ahead of WWE Payback tonight, PWInsider Elite is reporting that it could be “Tiffy Time” at the show because the NXT Women’s Champion Tiffany Stratton is expected to be at Payback this evening.

It was reported by WRKD Wrestling earlier this week that WWE was planning some sort of match or rivalry between Lynch and Stratton.

If WWE is still planning on some sort of Lynch-Stratton interaction then it could start at Payback perhaps with Stratton costing Lynch her Steel Cage Match against Stratus or perhaps something will happen after Payback.
