Top WWE Champion Not Medically Cleared To Compete

A current champion in the WWE disclosed that he is not medically cleared to compete in the ring right now. The champion in question is R-Truth.

R-Truth is known for his hilarious comedy skits in the WWE for years. The 54-year-old veteran has also had so many achievements in his in-ring career, as he has been a former multi-time United States Champion and tag team champion, and holds the record of winning the 24×7 Championship 53 times as well.

R-Truth will continue to entertain fans with his skits for some more time, as he revealed earlier this year that he has signed a new four-year deal with the WWE:

I signed a four-year deal with a three-year option. Again, that’s one of the things with the wrestling business. You’re going to have people that speculate and insinuate and throw things out there, but don’t know the back behind the story and the truth of it,” Truth revealed.

The current WWE Champion is not medically cleared for action

Earlier this year, the current champion, R-Truth won the WWE Tag Team Championship alongside Damian Priest, and after multiple successful title defenses, Truth has been out of action for over a month. He last competed in a tag title match against Fraxiom on the May 1st, 2026 episode of SmackDown. Truth and Priest were also in a feud with the MFTs.

In a recent interview with WittyWhittier, R-Truth was asked about his dream title defense as the current WWE Tag Team Champion. Truth invited every team to step up without naming a dream defense:

Anybody. There’s no dream, man. We live in the reality right now. Like my childhood hero, my older brother would say, dog, you know what I’m saying? It’s open challenges to them, dog. You know what I’m saying? We invite them all. You know what I’m saying? If they want to step up, pull up.

R-Truth also disclosed that he is not medically cleared to compete right now while talking about his feud with the MFTs:

MFTs, we got to take care of them because they’re on a whole different thing, dog. They’re hurting people. I’m not even medically released yet because of the MFTs. You know what I’m saying? So it’s like, right now, they on the radar, though,” Truth revealed. [h/t Fightful]

It remains to be seen when R-Truth makes his in-ring return after being medically cleared.
