Tony Khan’s Latest AEW Acquisition Told Not To Wrestle By WWE Legend: “Please Don’t Do That”
A WWE Hall of Famer advised Tony Khan’s most recent AEW signing not to get in the ring. Khan’s latest acquisition is Mick Foley.
Mick Foley was under a legends deal with the WWE until he announced last year that he no longer wanted to be associated with the Stamford-based promotion due to political differences. There were rumors of Foley potentially going All Elite before he announced recently that he will make his AEW debut with an appearance during the Double or Nothing 2026 pre-show this Sunday.
There are speculations that Mick Foley could also wrestle inside the AEW ring after he is officially All Elite. The 60-year-old legend last competed in the 2012 Royal Rumble match. Meanwhile, the WWE legend, Eric Bischoff gave his opinion on Foley possibly wrestling in AEW.
WWE Hall of Famer doesn’t want Tony Khan’s new AEW signing to wrestle
Speaking on his 83 Weeks podcast, the WWE Hall of Famer, Eric Bischoff admitted that Tony Khan signing Mick Foley to AEW is a great idea:
I think Mick Foley as part of the AEW brand is a great idea. He’s such a talented guy. He’s so good on the mic and he’s a great storyteller. He knows instinctively how to get people over. You don’t have to teach him anything — he can add, live, improv, follow a script. He’s a really super talented guy. And obviously, the name value, the credibility, the legacy that comes with him has great value,” Eric stated.
Eric Bischoff further requested Mick Foley not to get into the ring and wrestle aside from a little physicality:
Please don’t get in the ring. Please don’t do that, Mick. I’ll support him whatever he does because I really, really respect him. But I hope, because I respect Mick, that he allows us the privilege of remembering him when he was able to do some unbelievable things in the ring. That’s the memory I think most people want of Mick Foley”
We’ll get as much of Mick as we can behind the desk or interacting with talent. But please don’t do it in the ring. If it’s an angle — something happens outside the ring and there’s some physicality — that’s all cool, and that’s Mick. But when you talk about seeing him in the ring for a 12-, 15-, or 20-minute match. That’s the part where it gets tough,” said Bischoff. [H/T Sescoops]
