A 3-time former WWE World Champion has confirmed joining rival promotion, AEW.

Earlier in the day, Tony Khan revealed that Mick Foley would be joining Renee Paquette as the co-host during ‘The Buy In’ before the Double Or Nothing pay-per-view on Sunday.

Over the last week, there was buzz around Foley potentially joining All Elite Wrestling in some capacity.

Following Tony Khan’s announcement, the 60-year-old WWE Hall of Famer took to Instagram to confirm his new status as a representative of AEW. In the caption, he also wrote about meeting Khan for the first time fifteen years ago.

FOLEY IS ALL ELITE!

I am extremely happy to be making my debut with @aew – joining @reneepaquette on the #DoubleOrNothing pre-show. Looking forward to seeing @tonyrkhan for the first time in many years (we had lunch fifteen years ago) and meeting up with AEW’s amazing roster.

Foley last competed in World Wrestling Entertainment during the 2012 Royal Rumble, where he entered the match at #7 wearing his Cactus Jack shirt. He was eliminated by Cody Rhodes.

Mick Foley Representing AEW For The First Time

During his heyday, Mick Foley represented multiple wrestling promotions, but spent a considerable amount of time in WWE.

After spending his formative years in the independent circuit, he joined World Championship Wrestling (WCW), where he had multiple stints. He then joined ECW, where he established his legacy as a hardcore wrestler.

He joined World Wrestling Entertainment in 1996. He had multiple stints in the Stamford promotion, too, before officially calling it a career in 2012. Since then, he has made several sporadic appearances in the company, even serving as the Raw general manager.

As a performer, he won 3 major singles championships as well as the Hardcore and Tag Team titles.

His move to AEW will be the first time he represents the Jacksonville promotion. Foley has previously spoken highly about the company, which sparked speculations about a possible move for him, but it never happened.

Foley had also admitted that he once met with MJF to discuss a retirement to celebrate his 60th birthday. However, it never came to pass after he suffered a concussion while training.

Mick Foley Had Been Critical Of WWE Of Late

Mick Foley is among some of the veteran wrestlers who have been vocal about the tense political climate in the United States.

In December last year, he took to his social media platform, where he criticized WWE’s close relationship with President Donald Trump, citing inhumane treatment of immigrants under his governance and his comments in the wake of the death of American filmmaker Rob Reiner.

He also announced that he was no longer interested in representing the company and would not renew his Legends contract, which will end in June 2026.

With his WWE days in the rearview, there is nothing left for the wrestling legend to do other than look forward to his stint with AEW.

As of this moment, there is no news about whether or not he will perform on the brand or will exclusively work behind the scenes and pre-show.
