Tony Khan CANNOT Let This Star Leave AEW For WWE: “It D*es”
A top AEW star explained why Tony Khan’s promotion will suffer if he leaves for WWE. The star in question is Maxwell Jacob Friedman, MJF.
MJF has been in AEW since the company’s inception in 2019 and has evolved into one of the biggest stars in the promotion. He had already been the World Champion two times during his tenure before winning it the third time at Double or Nothing 2026.
Although Maxwell Jacob Friedman is enjoying his run in AEW as the current World Champion, many fans have reflected on the idea of The Salt of the Earth heading to the WWE. It also raises a huge concern for Tony Khan’s promotion, as MJF is arguably the biggest star in the company today, and him joining the competition will be a huge loss for Khan.

During his recent interview with The Hollywood Reporter, the top AEW star, MJF declared himself the biggest draw in Tony Khan’s promotion and claimed that he has been on top this entire year:
Look, I’ve proven time and time again that I’m the biggest draw in the company. Now, that doesn’t take away from the fact that I can’t do that alone. I need a team, and boy, do I have a great team. AEW is chock full of some of the best professional wrestlers in the sport, [some of the best] professional wrestling has ever seen. But when we look at things metrically in the year 2026, I’ve been on top this entire year.”
In the same interview, MJF was also asked what happens to All Elite Wrestling if he moves to Hollywood full-time or jumps ship to the WWE. Max had a direct answer, as he claimed that AEW will d*e very fast if he leaves and declared himself the most important piece of puzzle:
It d*es. It d*es probably a fast — not even a slow and painful de*th. And that’s OK, you know. I love AEW, I love everybody that works there, but, like I said, I can’t be in the position I’m in without having the pass the ball, but if they couldn’t pass the ball back to me? Jesus Christ. Road Dogg says there were discussions about wanting to bring MJF to WWE.
