Tony Khan Reveals If AEW Is Planning Show Against WWE WrestleMania 43

The AEW President, Tony Khan finally opened up on whether he has a show planned to counter WWE WrestleMania 43 next year.

It was announced last year that WrestleMania 43 in 2027 will be the first Mania outside the US, as it is scheduled to take place in Saudi Arabia. Many fans on the internet expressed their displeasure with the news, while many fans also believe it could be a great opportunity for other promotions to produce a big show at the same time, to replace Mania in the US.

During a media call last year, Tony Khan was asked whether he could be working to produce a huge event in 2027 at the time of WrestleMania 43 to replace the show of shows in the US. Khan said that he is interested in it and promised a huge event for spring 2027 at the time of Mania while also hyping up the Revolution pay-per-view for next year:

I have a lot of interest in it, and I can promise we’re gonna run a huge event in the spring of 2027. I think spring 2027 is gonna be a great time for AEW. There’s gonna be a huge pay-per-view for sure, and one pay-per-view I can tell you is gonna be huge in spring 2027, that has done huge things for us in AEW, and I think some really historic things in pro-wrestling at AEW Revolution.

We’ll have a huge Revolution. People ask about the spring of 2027. I promise we’ll have a huge AEW Revolution and a lot of big plans for then.”

Tony Khan on a potential AEW show to counter WrestleMania 43

During the AEW Double or Nothing 2026 media scrum, Tony Khan was asked whether he is planning a major AEW event for next year to cover the market gap in the US at the time when WrestleMania 43 will be taking place in Saudi Arabia. Khan stated that the idea of replacing Mania in the US in 2027 is potentially viable and said he’ll wait for what happens in the world landscape between now and then:

I think it is potentially viable. And it’s a very interesting thought. We’ll have to see what happens in the world landscape between now and then, but it’s a very interesting possibility.” [H/T WrestlingNews.co]

It remains to be seen if Tony Khan actually has a huge AEW show up his sleeve to counter WrestleMania 43 in Saudi Arabia next year.
