TNA Star Re-Signs As AEW Reunion Hopes Go Up In Smoke

Tony Khan AEW

Tony Khan’s hopes of reuniting a major faction in AEW have gone up in smoke as TNA signs up a former WWE star.

AEW is the current home of The Hurt Syndicate, comprising MVP, Shelton Benjamin, and Bobby Lashley. The group was previously known as The Hurt Business in WWE when it was a quartet and also included Cedric Alexander.

When Alexander was let go by WWE in February 2025, many fans hoped to see him don the black and gold with his old teammates in AEW, but that did not end up happening. Alexander instead signed a short-term deal with TNA. And despite that deal coming to an end, it seems like he’s staying put.

AEW Misses Out On Hurt Syndicate Quartet

Fightful Select has now reported that TNA has managed to re-sign former WWE star Cedric Alexander. Alexander’s deal with the promotion was said to have expired around the time of Bound For Glory, but terms for a new deal were only agreed very recently.

Alexander will challenge for the TNA X-Division Championship at Genesis in a three-way match with Moose and the winner of the title match on the first edition of Impact on AMC, Leon Slater or Myron Reed.

MVP and Shelton Benjamin are currently going it alone in AEW, with Bobby Lashley ruled out of action due to an unspecified injury. Alexander recently reunited with the group at WrestleCade, but it seems a reunion in AEW is further away than ever.
