AJ Lee Makes Big WWE Confession

The successful WWE comeback of AJ Lee left the former champion fulfilled.

AJ Lee had a successful WWE comeback from September 2025 until WrestleMania 42 in April.

During her WWE return run, which was a decade after her first run, Lee had a lengthy feud with Becky Lynch that saw her win and then lose the Women’s Intercontinental Title. In addition, Lee competed in a Women’s WarGames match for the first time and got the win for her team.

After losing to Lynch at WrestleMania, Lee thanked WWE, the talent, and the fans for the memories.

“Allow me to be sappy and then forget this ever happened. Rebecca, you’re selfless, hilarious, and pure joy to spar with. Thank you for keeping me safe and making me better. Jess, thank you for being a true partner in our matches and always calming my anxiety. Carla and Aoife, I fell in love with wrestling again by seeing it through your eyes. I’m so proud to be a teeny part of your journey. You’re way cooler and more talented than I ever was. But I still have to kick your asses one day.

Pam, you’re the undisputed GOAT. Thank you for going out of your way to help me train, to make every show so f’ing fun, and for healing my jaded heart. To all the women in the locker room, I admire and respect you so damn much. You are my wildest dreams for women’s wrestling come true. Thank you for making me feel so welcome and supported and dealing with my obnoxiously loud laugh.”

The “Pam” who Lee referred to is WWE superstar Bayley, who is a close friend of Lee.

“To my AJ Leegion, my mania entrance was a love letter to you, and to every girl who will become her own superhero. Thank you for supporting me for two decades, selling out my merchandise, giving me record-setting views, and making Converse a small fortune with your AJ cosplay. Your passion kept me coming back. Stay weird, see you soon.”

As for the future, it’s been reported that the former Divas Champion could return, but there doesn’t appear to be anything set in stone.

AJ Lee Wasn’t Expecting To Make A WWE Comeback

While appearing on The Bella Twins – Nikki & Brie Bella – podcast, Lee spoke about her WWE return and how she didn’t expect it to happen.

“Did I ever think I was gonna come back? Oh, no. I think I was kind of wrap stuff up in such a perfect bow, it just felt like I didn’t wanna tarnish that in a way and it felt so completed, I didn’t feel like I had anything left to do, and then seeing how the business evolved, I kind of saw it, like, when you’re a senior in high school and you graduate, you’re like, ‘I hope those freshmen have better teachers. I hope they get a field…’

You don’t expect it for you. So it was just an extra wonderful surprise and a treat to be like, ‘Oh! I get to hang out with this new class? That’s awesome.’” (H/T Fightful)

AJ Lee is married to CM Punk, who spent nearly a decade away from WWE until his November 2023 return. Punk recently won the Undisputed WWE Championship and remains one of the company’s biggest stars.
