The Rock’s Ex-WWE Partner: “I Enjoyed Being In The Ring With Everybody Except…”
A former tag team partner of The Rock recently revealed the one WWE star he disliked wrestling.
D’Lo Brown joined WWE in the mid-1990s. The 52-year-old was part of the iconic Nation of Domination faction, alongside several other WWE legends, including The Rock.
Brown’s first run in the Stamford-based company lasted nearly six years before he was released from his contract in February 2003. He made a brief return five years later just to be released again after about six months.
In a recent interview with Jonathan Coachman and Vince Russo on The Coach & Bro Show, Brown was asked about the wrestlers he enjoyed sharing the ring with and those he did not.
The former European Champion named X-Pac and Val Venis as his favorite opponents. Meanwhile, he revealed that he did not enjoy sharing the ring with his former Nation of Domination partner Ahmed Johnson.
Well, favorite is twofold. It’s either X-Pac or Val Venis. We had great chemistry together. And least favorite, there’s only one clear-cut answer and that’s Ahmed Johnson. Sorry, did I say that out loud? That was my inner monologue. Sorry I should have… Hold on. Let me do the politically correct thing. There was no one I disliked wrestling in all in WWE. I enjoyed being in the ring with everybody, except for Ahmed Johnson. [32:58 onwards]
Why Did WWE Break Up The Nation Of Domination?
During the same episode of The Coach & Bro Show, former WWE head writer Vince Russo revealed why the decision to break up The Nation of Domination was made.
The wrestling veteran noted that after the faction served its purpose of getting all its members over individually, there was no need to keep these superstars in a group.
I’ll tell you, bro, it wound up slowly but surely getting disbanded because it did what every faction is supposed to do. Everyone starts getting over in the group, and then you break them out as individual superstars. That’s what’s supposed to happen with every faction, and that’s exactly what happened with everybody in the nation.
