Real Reason WWE Disbanded The Rock’s Iconic Faction Revealed
The real reason why WWE disbanded The Rock’s iconic faction has been revealed.
When The Rock first debuted in the WWE, it was quite obvious that the company was high on him. However, the fans rejected his push and started booing him. Therefore, WWE knew they had to change course.
When The Great One returned from injury, he was placed in the Nation of Domination along with Faarooq, D’Lo Brown, Mark Henry, and others. This alliance helped The Rock get over with the fans and served as the catalyst that catapulted him into the main event spot. The group eventually broke up in 1998, and everyone went their separate ways.
Vince Russo reveals why WWE disbanded the Nation of Domination
Speaking on Behind The Turnbuckle Studios’ The Coach & Bro Show, Vince Russo said that the Nation of Domination disbanded because everybody in the group got over, which was the intended reason for the faction’s formation.
“I’ll tell you, bro, it wound up slowly but surely getting disbanded because it did what every faction is supposed to do. Everyone starts getting over in the group, and then you break them out as individual superstars. That’s what’s supposed to happen with every faction, and that’s exactly what happened with everybody in the nation.”
D’Lo Brown added that they were excited when their run as a group ended because they were each going to branch out and do their own thing. However, they were also a bit scared to go out on their own.
“You know, for us, obviously, you’re coming to the end of this thing you’ve been part of for the better part of two or three years, but it was a sense of excitement because then we all knew we were going to start breaking out and start doing our own things. And it is awesome to do stuff as a group with the dudes you’re with, but when you get comfortable and you’re ready to go and you’re ready to fly out of the nest, we wanted to, all of us wanted to spread our wings. And obviously what Vinny just said, it’s about, we all got to the point where we could all fly by ourselves and still be okay. So we were excited, a little scared because what’s next, but then mostly excited because we’re getting the chance to go out there and do this on our own.”
The Nation of Domination will remain one of the most iconic factions in WWE history.
