Velveteen Dream’s return to the ring has only caused more controversy.

On February 17th, Patrick Clark — better known as the Velveteen Dream returned to the ring for the first time in over three years.

The surprise appearance caused a storm on social media, given the controversy that’s surrounded the star for several years.

In April 2020, Clark was accused of sending indecent images to a minor, and this was followed by more allegations later that year. Clark denied any wrongdoing.

The former star was arrested in August 2022, for First Degree Battery and Trespassing. He was arrested again just six days later on charges relating to possessing drug paraphernalia. This second arrest was reportedly tied to a conviction in November 2021 on drug-related charges.

In September 2022, EC3 alleged that Velveteen Dream left his phone in the bathroom in an attempt to film explicit videos of his colleagues without their consent while they worked for WWE. Furthermore, EC3 claimed that WWE was aware of the alleged offence.

This caused a huge backlash against The Dynasty, who booked the ex-WWE star to appear on their show — especially as the promotion prides itself on providing “family-friendly entertainment.”

Despite the controversy, The Dynasty issued a statement explaining that it stands by its decision to book Clark as a surprise guest.

“Last night, we did what most others wouldn’t. We took a risk on a person, & gave them an opportunity for a 2nd chance. A 2nd chance to fulfill their DREAM. We stand by that decision.

Thank you to the PACKED house for last night’s event! #WearetheDynasty”

When Did Velveteen Dream Leave WWE?

Velveteen Dream featured in the sixth season of WWE Tough Enough and signed a contract with WWE in 2015. The former star was repackaged as the Velveteen Dream in 2017 and went on to North American Champion feuding with many of the biggest names that the Black and Gold brand had to offer.

After a lengthy period out of the ring Dream was released in May 2021.
