Seth Rollins Ranks The Top 5 Moments Of His WWE SummerSlam Career
Seth Rollins shared his own personal ranking of WWE SummerSlam moments.
When he’s not appearing on WWE television, Seth Rollins is taking on side gigs like co-hosting NFL Network’s Good Morning Football. In addition to that, Rollins has been a guest host on the Rich Eisen Show, which is one of the most popular daily sports talk shows in the world.
While guest hosting on the Rich Eisen Show this week, the 6-time WWE World Champion Seth Rollins talked about his impressive history at SummerSlam and how he might be “Mr. SummerSlam” in terms of legendary moments at the legendary summer Premium Live Event.
That led to Rollins presenting his choices for the Top 5 Seth Rollins Moments at WWE SummerSlam. Here’s the countdown of his top five, along with some of his comments.
5. Seth Rollins defeats Dominik Mysterio in a Street Fight @ SummerSlam 2020
When talking about this match, Rollins mentioned it was Dominik’s first WWE match, and they had a great match together in the pandemic era. Rollins also talked about his fandom of Dominik’s dad, Rey Mysterio.
4. Seth Rollins defeats Finn Balor @ SummerSlam 2023
This meant a lot to Rollins because their SummerSlam 2016 match was memorable because Balor hurt his shoulder. This time, Rollins retained the World Heavyweight Title against Balor in an outstanding match.
3. Seth Rollins defeats Brock Lesnar @ SummerSlam 2019 to win the Universal Championship
In the main event of SummerSlam 2019, Seth Rollins beat Brock Lesnar to win the Universal Championship in what was arguably the best match they had together. Rollins knows it too, since he spoke about how much that match meant to him.
“This is a big one for me. Seth Rollins versus Brock Lesnar in the main event of SummerSlam – we’re in Toronto for the Universal Championship. I had beaten Brock Lesnar earlier in the year at WrestleMania for the title. He had won Money in the Bank, he cashed in on me, so he was going in as the champion and I was going into SummerSlam trying to get the title back. And I was able to do it.
Now, I’ve had a lot of run-ins with Brock Lesnar over the years. He is one of, if not the craziest athletes I’ve ever been in the ring with in my entire life. You know, sometimes those matches aren’t what you want them to be. The SummerSlam match against Brock Lesnar was the quintessential David vs. Goliath, underdog story, and I was so proud of the way that one turned out. To be able to be in there with Brock and have what I felt was a classic SummerSlam match…and I got the win. Got my title back. Very nice.”
2. Seth Rollins defeats John Cena @ SummerSlam 2015 to retain the WWE Title and win the US Title
At SummerSlam 2015, a heel Seth Rollins was the WWE Champion while John Cena was the United States Champion. Late in the match, TV host/comedian Jon Stewart got involved to cost Cena the match, and Rollins capitalized to get the win to keep the WWE Title and win the US Title in the same match.
“With a little help from my friend, Jon Stewart, I was able to defeat John Cena in the main event.”
The match wasn’t actually the main event because Brock Lesnar facing The Undertaker went on last, but Rollins-Cena was one of the biggest matches of the show. Rollins continued talking about the match.
“Two titles. Double champ. It didn’t last too long. I had them for maybe a month or two. It was a very special night, obviously working with the Greatest of All Time John Cena, SummerSlam main event, really special. I’m quite jacked there, I will say. In great shape.”
The “Ruse Of The Century” Tops Seth Rollins’ WWE SummerSlam List
For his top choice SummerSlam moment, Seth Rollins recalled SummerSlam 2025 when he revealed that he wasn’t really dealing with a knee injury. After CM Punk won the World Heavyweight Title from Gunther, Rollins shed the crutches and knee brace, went down to the ring, cashed in Money in the Bank, and beat Punk to win the World Heavyweight Title.
1. Seth Rollins defeats CM Punk @ SummerSlam 2025 to win the World Heavyweight Title via Money in the Bank cash-in
“Is there anything better than the Ruse of the Century? This show played a major part in that. I wasn’t even in a match on that show. I was on the shelf with a severe knee injury that we couldn’t quite diagnose. But when the time came, I was able to shed the crutches, run down, hit Charles Montgomery Punk in the face with that beautiful black & gold briefcase, Stomp his head straight into the mat and take the World Heavyweight Championship for my own.
What followed the greatest cash in all of time at WrestleMania was the second greatest cash in of all time at SummerSlam. I am 1-2 in the books for great cash-ins. And that was probably…arguably…my greatest SummerSlam moment of all time.”
