A video has been released featuring a look at Samoa Joe’s role in the upcoming “Twisted Metal” series coming to Peacock.

Samoa Joe is well-known in pro wrestling for having an incredible career over the last 25 years. During that career, he has won championships everywhere he has gone from ROH to TNA/Impact to WWE and currently in AEW as well. In addition to that, he worked as a commentator for WWE in the past too.

Thanks to the new “Twisted Metal” TV series that will premiere on Peacock on July 27th, Joe can add the character Sweet Tooth to his resume.

“Twisted Metal” is a classic PlayStation video game featuring a lot of unique characters. The new series is developed by Sony Pictures Television and PlayStation. Some of the actors in the series are Anthony Mackie, Tahj Vaughans, Stephanie Beatriz, Chelle Ramos, and Michael Carollo. The series was filmed from May to August 2022 in New Orleans.

Here’s a synopsis of the show:

“In a post-apocalyptic wasteland, John Doe, a talkative milkman with amnesia, is given a mission to traverse the desolate world to deliver a cryptic package in order to stay alive. Alongside the assistance of Quiet, a rash car thief, Doe faces a life-altering opportunity but must confront ruthless marauders in deadly and destructive vehicles to secure a chance at a better future.”

Samoa Joe is playing the masked Sweet Tooth character with actor Will Arnett voicing the character. The Peacock YouTube channel has released a clip of Sweet Tooth getting into a fight with Mackie’s character John Doe.

Anthony Mackie talked to Rolling Stone about working with Samoa Joe on Twisted Metal.

“I’ve been a fan of Samoa Joe’s for a while now, just for wrestling, and he’s just a nice guy. He’s one of those guys that’s so huge that he just has to be nice, because nobody’s trying to try him. [He’d] break you in half. He doesn’t have any natural predators! So, he’s just a nice guy.”

It’s funny because we have a few toss-ups, a few fight scenes in the show, and I have to say, I was really impressed by him, just specifically in his ability… it was almost like commedia dell’arte watching him work because his face was covered, and it was all body gestures and stuff like that. It was really, really impressive, the work he was able to do and the way he brought this character to life.”

“It’s funny to see somebody who – the way that [Dave] Bautista did in Guardians of the Galaxy – once you take somebody’s identity away, all of a sudden, it frees them up to be whoever that character is. And Samoa, he embraced that one hundred percent and made Sweet Tooth, I think, a crowd favorite from this show.”

As for his AEW wrestling career, Samoa Joe has been announced for a six-man tag team match in the main event of AEW Collision on Saturday, June 17. Joe, the ROH TV Champion, will team up with Jay White & Juice Robinson against the returning CM Punk and AEW Tag Team Champions FTR (Dax Harwood & Cash Wheeler).
