Roman Reigns Defending Undisputed WWE Universal Championship At Upcoming Live Event

Roman Reigns making his entrance at WWE SummerSlam 2023

The “Tribal Chief” Roman Reigns is set to have a rare championship match at an upcoming WWE live event.

It has been nearly two months since Roman Reigns has appeared on WWE television with that last appearance taking place on the August 11th edition of Smackdown when Jey Uso “quit” WWE.

At WWE SummerSlam on August 5th, Roman Reigns defeated his cousin Jey Uso to retain the Undisputed WWE Universal Champion. It was yet another controversial and cheap win for Reigns due to Jimmy Uso showing up at ringside to shockingly cost his twin brother Jey the match and the championship. After Jimmy’s interference, Reigns would capitalize to pick up another victory.

In terms of televised Undisputed WWE Universal Championship defenses, Reigns has only had the SummerSlam match with Jey in nearly six months. That’s because the last televised defense before that was at WrestleMania 39 against Cody Rhodes.

Roman Reigns returning to WWE in October for television and a live event

The next WWE Premium Live Event for the main roster is Fastlane on October 7th. Two of the big matches advertised so far are Seth Rollins defending the World Heavyweight Championship against Shinsuke Nakamura in a Last Man Standing Match and John Cena facing Jimmy Uso & Solo Sikoa in a handicap match that could be changed to a tag team match. Roman Reigns isn’t wrestling at the show, nor is he scheduled to appear.

It has been announced that Reigns is advertised for the October 13th edition of Smackdown in Tulsa, Oklahoma. In addition to that, Reigns will also be at the October 27th Smackdown in Milwaukee.

A reason that Roman Reigns is set to appear at TV shows in October is because he’s expected to wrestle at WWE Crown Jewel in Saudia Arabia on November 4th.

In addition to those dates, Reigns is also being advertised for a WWE SuperShow live event on Saturday, October 14th in Kansas City. The T-Mobile Center in Kansas City revealed that Reigns will defend the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship against Sami Zayn.

That Reigns-Zayn match will be a rematch of their Elimination Chamber matchup from back in February in Sami’s hometown of Montreal. While Zayn nearly won that night, Reigns got some help from The Bloodline and found a way to win again.

Reigns last wrestled at a WWE live event on July 22nd when he beat WWE Hall of Famer Rey Mysterio in Mexico City.
